Proven strategies
for your family.

Kidzone

We understand how stressful it can be when your child has difficulty with medical procedures.

We created online resources and tools to help families feel confident supporting and advocating for their child. We believe parents and caregivers know their children best and we want to help you become an expert in supporting your kids.

I’m a Certified Child Life Specialist and mama to three children.

I have supported families in multiple units of the hospital following accidents, life changing traumas and new diagnoses. I’ve seen firsthand how child life services can positively impact a child and family’s experience within the hospital. But after my first daughter was born, I quickly realized the lack of support that parents have outside of a children’s hospital.

In talking with other parents, I realized that many found medical experiences as well as grief and loss extremely stressful, and did not know what options were available to help advocate or support their child. I am so excited to finally be able to provide these resources that can help you and your family.

I’ve been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2014 and have always been driven by my passion for helping others.

I have worked for several children’s hospitals and have a range of experience supporting kids and teens in and out of hospital settings. After countless friends and acquaintances reached out for support as their child went through a difficult medical experience, it became clear that there was a need for child life services in our community. That was the inspiration and start of ‘Creating Resilient Kids’.

Supporting and guiding children to become resilient is such a rewarding experience. It humbles me to be able to support your family through their medical journey.

What is a Child Life Specialist?

A Child Life Specialist helps children and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss, and bereavement through therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain.

Here's how we can help:

As parents:

We understand how helpless you feel when you watch your child struggle with medical appointments, transitions, or grief and you don’t know how to help.

As Child Life Specialists:

We believe you should have the tools you need to support your child. Rather than relying only on a professional to do it for you, we believe you can:

  • Understand common fears and concerns based on your child’s age and developmental level
  • Provide preparation and support for upcoming medical procedures
  • Support your child and his/her siblings through a new diagnosis
  • Offer support to your child following the death of a loved one
